FIN4130 Advanced Managerial Finance
This course discusses corporate finance from the perspective of long-term value creation. Through theoretical frameworks and practical application, students develop the tools necessary to analyze and apply financial strategies within real-world business contexts. Important issues facing firms, such as capital allocation, financing decisions, and corporate governance, are covered. Students create valuation models using industry-standard software, such as Microsoft Excel. The role of the Chief Financial Officer and financial intermediaries, such as investment banks, are discussed.
Prerequisite
A grade of C+ or better in FIN 3430
Course Outcomes
- Understand the issues faced by financial managers, such as a CFO, at firms. These issues include capital allocation, project and firm valuation, payout policy, capital structure, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring.
- Learn how to use software such as Microsoft Excel to evaluate and solve corporate finance problems.
- Understand how financial decisions relate to overall firm strategy.
