FIN4976 Financial Planning Capstone
This course is designed to expand on the concepts learned in FIN4190 Financial Planning with a deeper application to the quantitative and qualitative aspects of financial planning. Taught with a case-based approach, this class teaches students to incorporate human behavior, financial concepts, and technology to create comprehensive financial plans integrating cashflow, investments, retirement, insurance, tax, and estate planning. This class fulfills both the client psychology and Capstone modules of the CFP® Designations educational requirements.
Prerequisite
Students must complete FIN 3430 with a C+ or higher and take FIN 4190 Financial Planning.

Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the content found within the financial planning
curriculum and effectively apply the financial planning process to formulate appropriate financial
plans meeting the needs and circumstances of the client. - Effectively communicate the financial plan, both orally and in writing, including information
based on research, peer, colleague or simulated client interaction and/or results emanating from
synthesis of material. - Analyze personal financial situations that include both qualitative and quantitative information
and evaluate clients’ objectives, needs, and values to develop an appropriate strategy within the
financial plan. - Understand the CFP(R) Board Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct and Procedural Rules.
- Describe the CFP(R) Practice Standards and apply to the financial planning process.
