FIN4190 Financial Planning

This course is designed to introduce students to the U.S. financial services sector and the process of financial planning. In this class, you'll learn about the various areas of personal financial planning, how to develop comprehensive financial plans, and develop a sense of the client experience within this industry. Broad topics include personal finance planning areas including savings and debt management, insurance, tax, retirement, investment and basic estate planning. This course meets some of the CFP® Designation’s educational requirements.

Course Outcomes

  1. Learn about different aspects of an individual's financial plan, such as budgeting, insurance, taxes, and retirement.
  2. Gain practical skills by creating financial plans for simulated clients.
  3. Cover one of the six required courses for the CFP designation and be prepared to take the remaining courses, such as Financial Planning Capstone course.
