COR 327 WOMEN, CULTURE AND DEVELOPMENT

This course primarily investigates the economic status of women in the labor market, how that role has changed over time and the differences between labor market outcomes for both men and women. Topics include gender differences in the work place, labor force participation trends and its consequences for family, as well as race, ethnic and cultural issues across countries. The aim is to provide students with a broader comparative understanding of women in an international context by incorporating socio-political-cultural-historical and economic perspectives. The class will be designed around discussions, presentation of ideas, and creative ways of working together in learning and exploring the role of culture, development and women.
