EDU 467 EARLY CHILDHOOD POLICY AND ADVOCACY
This course focuses on connecting the science of early childhood development with the real world applications of program design and implementation. It includes an analysis of how federal, state, and local policies impact early childhood programs. Finally, this course acquaints students with the advocacy process as a means to influence policy decisions based on the science of early development.

Course Outcomes
- By the end of the course, students will be able to:
-Review and discuss research on brain development, the economic impact of early childhood investments, and child and family relationships in sociocultural contexts. - -Analyze selected federal, state, and local policies and describe the impact of selected policies on early childhood programs, professionals, children, and families.
- -Explain the benefits and limitations of policies in promoting quality early childhood education.
- -Learn about the advocacy process and demonstrate effective communication skills for advocacy and leadership.
