A Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Music Production and Recording Arts requires the completion of the Elon Core Curriculum as well as the Major Requirements listed below.

Music Core - Students placing into MUS 1300, complete the following: 13 sh
Music Core - Students placing into MUS 1310/1315, complete the following: 13 sh

In addition, each Music Production and Recording Arts major must complete:
(a) two semesters of applied music lessons 4 sh
(b) two Music Department ensembles 2 sh
(c) MUS 0010 Departmental Recital each semester of residency as a Music Production and Recording Arts major

Music Theory Requirement - complete 4 sh from the following:
Students may not count MUS 2310/ MUS 2315 in both Major and Concentration requirements.
In addition, each major with a Music Production concentration must complete:
(a) Four additional semester hours from applied composition lessons, applied instrumental or voice lessons, or Music Department ensembles 4 sh
(b) Keyboard proficiency

1.1 Students will demonstrate competency in signal flow, gain structure, microphone technique, multi-‐track audio recording, editing, and mixing on analog and digital mixing consoles using industry standard DAW software.
1.2 Students will demonstrate the ability to act competently in all standard music production workflow roles, including engineer, assistant, runner, producer, and artist.
2.1 Students will demonstrate competency in the fundamental concepts and terminology of music theory, including tonal harmony, correct voice-‐leading, sight-‐singing, and ear-‐training.
2.2 Students will demonstrate basic musical competency on their primary instrument of study or voice.
3.1 Students will demonstrate qualities of music industry professionals through effective planning, preparation, and project management, creating deliverables or other required content according to format specifications and on deadline.
3.2 Students will demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and formal presentations and informal professional settings.
4.1 Students will apply the musical and technical knowledge they have acquired in their course of study to the development and creation of a high-‐quality capstone portfolio demonstrating broad proficiency in the Learning Goals outlined in this PSLA and a more advanced level of competency in a more focused area of specialization or interest within the music industry in line with their MPRA concentration.
