Supply Chain Management

Supply Chain Management is the management of global activities to produce goods and services.  As outsourcing of goods and services has increased over the years, the management of these goods and services is necessary to distribute these items in a timely and cost efficient way to satisfy the end user customer.  It is also necessary to manage the quality, sustainability of these items and ensure that these goods and services are produced in a ethically responsible manner.  

Major Requirements:

A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Supply Chain Management requires the completion of the Elon Core Curriculum as well as the Major Requirements listed below.

Study Abroad Requirements

Study abroad students may transfer one supply chain management elective to the major provided they have taken the necessary prerequisites and have prior approval by the department chair.  A substitution for BUS 326 is not eligible.

Economics Requirements 3000 Level

Supply Chain Management majors should choose one of the following classes:  ECON 3500, ECON 3100, or ECON 3300 to satisfy their economics requirement. Double majors should pick the ECON class best for their primary major.

Supply Chain Management classes applied to other Majors or Minors

Students double majoring in two B.S.B.A. majors, a course eligible for two majors can only count towards one major. For example, MKT 4160 can count towards the MKT and IB majors. Therefore, if a student is double majoring in MKT and IB and takes MKT 4160, this course can count toward the MKT or IB major, but not both.

Knowledge - After completing this major, the student will understand current practices of Supply Chain Management excellence.

Skill Level - The student will have an enhanced skill level for problem-solving and supply chain optimization through the practice of current methodologies.

Application - Upon completion of this major, the student will be able to analyze supply chain management issues and select the correct method for decision making and operational improvement.
