Technology Use in DPTE Classrooms and Labs
Limit use of technological equipment to purposes of the class. Repeated use of technology in class and labs for non-academic purposes will be considered a violation of professional behavior.
• Cell phones/Smart Watches - Cell phones must be muted or off and stowed away during class and used/answered only in the case of an emergency. If a student has urgent and important need that requires making or receiving a phone call during class, notify and seek permission from the instructor ahead of time. Use of messaging applications on smart watches is also prohibited. Email, texting, social networking is prohibited in class and considered unprofessional behavior. During exams, all devices must be turned off.
• Use of laptop computers and tablets - Laptop computers and tablets may be used in class for note taking or class-related activities only. When taking class notes, web browsers, email, instant messaging should all be disabled. Use of computers/tablets for any other purpose (emails, web browsing) will result in the individual being prohibited from using the computer in future class sessions. Please keep computers closed during classmates’ presentations.
