Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Elon University Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) is a 16-month, 67 credit hour, post-baccalaureate degree that will qualify students to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a licensed, registered nurse. Prerequisite requirements include an earned bachelor’s degree in any field and 18-24 hours of prerequisite coursework, including human anatomy and physiology with labs, microbiology with lab, basic statistics, human growth and development or developmental psychology, and nutrition. The ABSN will be housed in the School of Health Sciences and primarily executed by faculty who are registered nurses with master’s or doctoral degrees. Willing scholars and collaborators from across campus will be invited to contribute their expertise in areas such as health disparity, religious literacy, cultural humility, and health communication.

Requirements

All nursing courses must be completed with a minimum grade of "B-". If a student earns less than a "B-", the course must be repeated and a grade of B- or higher obtained. Students will not be able to progress in the nursing program until the course they were unsuccessful in is repeated and passed with a B- or higher. This may cause graduation to be delayed by up to one year. Students may only repeat a nursing course once.
