Program Outcomes

Dance Studies
1. Students will be able to analyze the anatomy and physiology of a body in motion through dance vocabulary.
2. Students will be able to perform Yoga and Pilates repertoire designed to improve dance performance and physical conditioning.
3. Students will gain an understanding of historical and cultural aspects of dance.
4. Students will demonstrate knowledge of movement theories in kinesthetic, verbal and written form.
5. Students will execute skill and synthesize theoretical understanding of three dance forms from the following: jazz, ballet, modern, tap, and/or world.

Scientific Inquiry
6. Students will identify the basic structures, functions and interactions of the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems.
7. Students will explain the acute and chronic biological effects of exercise, physical activity, and dance on the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems.
8. Students will understand and apply basic mechanical principles affecting human movement.
9. Students will identify the basic structures, functions, and interactions of the cardio-respiratory system.
10. Students will explain the acute and chronic biological effects of exercise, physical activity, and dance on the cardio-respiratory system.
11. Students will understand psychological and cognitive factors as they relate to exercise, physical activity, and dance.
12. Students will explain the psychological and cognitive effects of exercise, physical activity, and dance.
13. Students will read, summarize and apply scientific knowledge to solve problems and analyze human movement.
14. Students will conduct an in depth scientific literature review on a topic related to dance science.
15. Students will use appropriate methods to design and implement a scientific inquiry pertaining to dance science.
