COR 346 CHILDBIRTH

This course explores the topic of childbirth from a personal, biomedical, psychosocial, cultural, and historical perspective. Students will explore their own birth stories and investigate how gender roles, current and historical, affect our understanding of childbirth. Students will also become familiar with the anatomy and mechanics of human reproduction, gestation, and parturition. Other topics include assisted reproductive technology, genetic counseling, and post-partum depression. This course is writing intensive. Open to students in the third or fourth year of study. Counts toward Public Health Studies and the Women's/Gender Studies minor.
