COR 4360 Latinos in the United States
Latinos are the fastest growing immigrant community in the United States. They not only help keep the U.S. economy afloat but, as we have witnessed in past elections, they also help determine the outcome of the presidential race. How has the Latino community changed in the United States in the last 20 years? What are the main contributions of Latinos to life in the United States? How does the Latino community influence the U.S. mass media and how does the mass media portray the Latino community in the United States? How has the Latino community transformed the landscape in North Carolina and in Alamance County, for that matter? This course helps you analyze and understand the realities and complexities of the Latino community in the United States. This course is writing intensive. Open to students in the third or fourth year of study.
