COR 3803 The Aesthetics of Experience:
Seeing, Sensing, and Creating Beauty in Florence
What makes a life beautiful? How does the experience of a place imbue perception, imagination, and memory? How do our intellectual passions shape what we find beautiful? This course invites students to examine how aesthetic experience arises through perception, design, and embodied engagement with place. By grounding our work in an interdisciplinary approach centered in classical studies (including philosophy, art history, literature, religion, and more), we will develop a framework for understanding beauty as a lived and culturally inflected experience. Our inquiry welcomes approaches from all disciplines; students from all majors can find material of interest and meaningful questions that spark intellectual engagement.Open to students in the third or fourth year of study. This course is writing intensive.

COR 1100 or COR 0011. Open to students in the third or fourth year of study.
