Audio-Visual Recording

In accordance with the Elon Academic Catalog (http://elon.smartcatalogiq.com/en/2020-2021/Academic-Catalog/General-Academic-Regulations/Registration-and-Courses/Recording), no one may record or stream video or audio, or take photographs by any means (including a cell phone) in classrooms or laboratories, or in clinical or volunteer settings without the expressed consent of the students, instructors, supervisors, and/or clients involved. No pictures may be taken in the anatomy laboratory except as directed by the faculty. Students wishing to record lectures should obtain permission from the instructor.

Some class assignments will require audio-visual recording. The instructor will provide guidelines for recordings and deletion of recordings taken for class assignment. A video/flip camera may be checked out for no longer than one day from the instructor or the DPTE program assistant. A video camera may also be checked out from Belk Library. Students are responsible for keeping the cameras in good working condition while they are checked out to them. Students must delete all recorded files prior to returning the camera. Students may be asked to delete video and photo files saved to a personal computer for coursework once the assignment is complete.

If a student video and/or audio records, streams or takes photographs in a class without the instructor’s permission, it will be considered dishonest and treated as a violation of professional behavior. This includes recording virtual classes without the instructor's permission.

Regardless of the course policy, recorded course materials may not be used in any way that denigrates and/or decontextualizes the instructor or any student whose class remarks are recorded. Any information contained in the recorded class may not be posted, published, or quoted without the express consent of the instructor or speaker, and if permission is granted, must be properly cited. All recordings of class lectures or discussions are to be erased at the end of the module.

The simulation rooms are equipped with LearningSpace software that is predominantly used to record practical exams. The software allows the program to capture video, annotate notes directly on the video and attach exam checklists. Because this software is cloud based, the rooms are accessible 24-hours to faculty/staff.

**Please be aware that any activity in the simulation rooms may be monitored and or recorded at any time.
