DPTE Floor Tape Policy
There are times when faculty, staff or students may want to temporarily place tape on the floor for research or educational purposes. Remember that there may be other ways to mark a location for a short period of time without using tape or other marks on the floor. This is especially true in the hallways.
In the event that tape must be used, you must follow these guidelines:
1. Only use tape approved by the department (DO NOT use painter’s tape unless it is on carpet). Approved tape should be housed in the podiums of the skills labs. If not, please ask a faculty member for an approved roll of tape.
2. Minimize the use of tape for the need. In addition, it is recommended that you take a picture of the tape you place on the floor so you have a record of where the tape was placed.
3. Each tape segment MUST have a faculty or staff member’s initials AND removal date (use an ink pen or permanent marker).
a. For example: SF Remove 2/12/22
4. Please remove the tape yourself on or before the removal date.
a. Cleanup – attempt to clean off any tape and small areas of adhesive; however, if there is a large amount of adhesive on the floor then contact the Dean’s office to have a work order put in to clean the floor. If you us a product such as “Goo Gone” follow-up with soap and water to prevent slipping.
Failure to follow these guidelines will result in the tape being removed without warning.
