Suspension (Summary or as Imposed Sanction)
Each student is expected to conduct themselves with regard for the well-being of other individuals and the Elon University community as a whole. Actions that threaten or endanger the personal safety of others, or that disrupt or interfere with the orderly operation of the university, may result in immediate disciplinary action.
The President, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Elon University Physician Assistant Program in Charlotte Chair, or a University Administrative designee has the authority to summarily suspend a student when, in their judgment, such action is necessary to protect the health or safety of any individual or to maintain the orderly operation of the university. When a student is summarily suspended, they will be informed in writing of the specific charges on which the suspension is based. This notice will be delivered
either personally or via the student’s Elon University email account within forty-eight (48) hours of the suspension’s imposition.
Any conduct by a student resulting in suspension will be considered a violation of the standards of academic and professional conduct. Suspected violations—regardless of whether they result in summary suspension—will be addressed according to the procedures outlined under the Violations of Standards of Academic or Professional Conduct section of the Elon Charlotte PA Program Student Handbook.
If a student is suspended for any reason, all student financial aid will be withheld until the appeal process is completed, resulting in either reinstatement or dismissal. If the student is reinstated, financial aid will be released. If the student is dismissed, the funds will be returned to the appropriate agency or lender.
