PSY 377 INTRO TO CLINIAL PSYCHOLOGY

What does the role of a clinical psychologist look like in different settings? What types of psychotherapies are available and how do we know if they are safe and effective? How do clinical psychologists get to know their clients quickly and build good working relationships? This course is designed to be an upper-level overview of the field of clinical psychology, and addresses the major roles of a psychologist with a focus on evidencebased therapies and assessment techniques. The course focuses on understanding the strengths and limitations of psychosocial interventions as well as relevant considerations such as clinical ethics and treating clients from diverse populations. Prerequisites: PSY 111 and one of the following: PSY 240, 241, 242, or 243.
