Social Concerns
The Elon student is expected at all times to exhibit honesty and ethical behavior in their dealings with fellow students, faculty, and staff. Invasion of privacy, theft, vandalism, acts of violence, sexual harassment, and disrespect for personal and University property are examples of unacceptable behavior. It is expected that individuals will engage in behavior becoming of a physical therapist at all times, including online social networks.
A further matter of concern is the abuse of alcohol and or substances by members of the student body. Any student whose actions facilitate use of substance by another student, exhibits signs of alcohol or substance abuse, or exposes the University to the risk of outside intervention will be brought before the Elon Student Judicial System and may be suspended or dismissed. Moreover, the abuse of alcohol or any substance may be grounds for suspension or dismissal.
The physical therapy practice acts of many states will not permit the issuance of a physical therapy license to a person convicted of a felony or of a violation of any narcotic or controlled substance law. In accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners can deny, suspend, or revoke the physical therapy license of a person convicted of a felony, or other public offense involving moral turpitude, or convicted for violating any narcotic or controlled substance law.
