Progression Monitoring at Checkpoints
Program checkpoints occur in both the didactic and clinical phase of the program, aligned with the end of a module (M):
- Spring (M2)
- Summer II (M4)
- Fall II modules (M6) of the didactic phase
- The 3rd rotation of the clinical phase (M7)
- The end of the Program (M8)
At a program checkpoint, the APPC will review each student’s demonstration of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and professional comportment necessary to progress to the next module and will make a recommendation regarding progression.
Recommendations of the committee may include the following sanctions:
- Academic concern (support recommendations)
- Academic or Professional warning
- Academic or Professional probation*
- Return to “good standing”
- Suspension
- Leave of Absence (temporary)
- Program dismissal**
*Sanctions of “Probation” (academic or professional) are reportable to state licensing boards and future employers and will be disclosed upon inquiry.
**Recommended sanctions for “Program Dismissal” will follow the dismissal procedures outlined in this handbook.
