GBL 265 ITALY: FINE ARTS
The goals of this course are: to expand the students’ capacity to view other cultures, to increase intellectual curiosity, and to illuminate their understanding of Italy’s fine arts through an intense cultural immersion and study. Students will study and learn about the artistic heritage of Italy and conduct research on various topics including patronage, cultural characteristics from different periods, religion, artistic symbolism, music and architecture. While in Italy, students will tour several cities and experience the sights and sounds which exemplify the art, architecture, and music of this culture through guided tours of museums, churches, and theatres and experiencing live musical performances.
