GBL 290 GHANA: PERFORMING ARTS IN CULTURAL CONTEXT

This course is designed for students to explore who they are but also challenges where they would like to be. Students will have the opportunity to experience the Ghanaian performing arts which include dance, music and drama (story telling) while they gain an appreciation for the country’s rich history. Students will learn the meaning of dance movements and have the opportunity to perform them in the community, experience and perform the different traditional musical instruments that exist in the traditional setting of Ghana, and learn different story tales orally passed on in traditional homes and narrate these stories to the community.

Previous performance experience by non-performance majors is not required. Every student will have a role in the experiences mentioned above. Application, acceptance and additional travel fee required.
