Shadowing During the Academic Phase

During the academic phase, “shadowing” in clinical settings that is not arranged or authorized by the Program is not permitted. This is to assure that students do not violate health care facility credentialing procedures (HIPAA, immunization compliance, safety, etc.) and are not put in a situation where they are expected to provide patient care for which they do not have appropriate training. An example of shadowing that is permitted during the academic phase includes volunteering at the Open Door Clinic or the Dream Center provided a student has completed all immunization requirements.
