POL 3130 American Politics and Film
This course examines the relationship between film and politics in the context of American politics. Students will examine the various political dimensions of film, both feature films and documentaries, including how film reflects our political world, how film may influence our political culture and society, how films can be political in their subject matter, form, and style, and political controversies surrounding films. Students will watch, analyze, and learn to write about political film. Through the films, the course will examine several major themes in American politics, culture, and society that may include: political campaigns, corruption, policy debates, race, gender, foreign policy, and war.
