POL 3190 Parties and Interest Groups

This course is focused on political parties and interest groups in the United States, relying on some of the newest and most exciting research. Topics covered in the course range from a deep dive into the state of the parties in recent elections, the importance of the party system in American politics, to a close look at important ways the two parties are different, an examination of social movements and parties, how interest group lobbying affects public policy, and how organizations develop activists to build power. In addition, students will participate in an ongoing party caucus simulation.
