POL 3660 Middle East Politics
This course provides students with an in-depth knowledge of key issues pertaining to the politics (political institutions and leadership, ethnicity, economic and political development, kinship, gender, conflict, etc.) of the Middle East. It seeks to combine historical background with the contemporary domestic and regional politics of the region. While the course materials cover North Africa, the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, Iran, and Turkey, there is a focus on Israel and the ‘core’ Middle East.
